Like Main Art Framing, Main Art Gallery is located on the second floor of Main Art Supply. Our curatorial staff presents both established and up-and-coming artists from the Richmond region and the Southeastartists working in a wide variety of mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography and installation. Every month we showcase a new artist or group of artist at an opening that coincides with other gallery openings in the city, the ever-popular First Friday series. Please join us on the first Friday of every month for an opening reception (hors d'oeuvres courtesy of Baja Bean Company) from 7 to 9 pm.

I've always loved building things, including houses. In the 70's, I developed a three-dimensional aspect to my photography and began building constructions. So, exploring these forms in clay does not seem foreign to mein fact, it has been exciting!
Dale Quarterman
I use fired clay as a canvas to incorporate techniques introduced in my recent glassworks. As with glass, the "rush" comes from the medium's unpredictability during the firing process and the welcome challenge of incorporating these changes into each finished piece.
Chuck Scalin
Hot and cold working of metal requires premeditation. By contrast, the immediacy of plastic clay allows for the spontaneous development of objects of idea and form. What freedom!
