ARTIST STATEMENT
Mary's Planet
This work springs from my longstanding interest in the visual quality of collectives such as a flock comprising many birds, or the texture of a surface formed by waves working in concert. The resulting videos invite expectation of some narrative drama. What is going to happen here? Is it happening? Is more necessary? All sound has been removed to wrap the viewer’s response in silence and encourage the inner stillness of a meditative state.
